Howdy, I’m Max
Max Weber is a photographer, graphic designer and printer based out of Denver, Colorado. He graduated from Colorado State University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts with a concentration in Graphic Design and Photography.
Max’s photographic work is created almost exclusively with his large format field camera using both modern film stocks and the wet plate collodion process. While large format work is the most prevalent, he also uses 35mm, medium format, digital and instant cameras in his work. Much of his work is focused on the human-built environments of the United States, with work looking at the remnants and results of westward expansion and work looking at urban and suburban multi-family housing. Like his image making tools, Max uses a variety of methods to print his work. For his black-and-white work he uses both traditional and alternative processes, including inkjet, silver gelatin projection, Van Dyke brown, platinum-palladium, and cyanotype. For his Color work he uses the inkjet, projection C-Type, and lightjet C-Type processes.
Max’s design philosophy is based on serving clients needs. He does more traditional design work such as logo design, layouts for print and web needs, and advertisements. He also works with motion graphics, video/commercial production and product design. His photographic and lighting skills position him to be able to photograph or record video of products and create advertisements which display the product in a stylized and professional manner. He has over 6 years of experience as an in-house graphic designer for global brands.
His work and philosophy are influenced by New Topographics, Sally Mann, Stephen Shore, Robert Adams, Robert Frank, Nick Carver, Rob Hann, Alec Soth, Gary Huibregtse, and many more.
