Destiny Manifest

2020-Present.

This ongoing series examines the mark that manifest destiny left on the landscape of the American West. I am interested in documenting how the United States’ drive to “manifest its destiny” shaped the built environment of the west. I find the built environments to be reflective of the cultures that create them. I am also interested in the economic and political aspects of the environments and subjects that I photograph. From old boom towns turned ghost, rural agriculture towns to industrial areas, city to suburb - I am fascinated with documenting all expressions of manifest destiny. I find this work, of seeing and showing the forgotten parts of the United States, especially in the turbulent climate of this country, terribly important.
